The Uplifting Foundation

The Uplifting Foundation was born out of the personal tragedy of the Williams Family. Sharon Williams suffered brain damage after undergoing routine surgery and went into a coma. When the personal tragedy of the Williams Family transitioned from “surreal” to “real” it became necessary to address practical issues such as:

  • What do I do next?
  • Who can help me?
  • How do I improve this circumstance?
  • How do I pay for the help needed?

These are important questions. And in the time of personal tragedy it can seem as though you aren’t able to answer any of these questions without already having an answer to one of them. James Williams gave his situation to God. He turned to his church and to his attorney to help him take action against the medical center that was responsible for his wife’s condition. He was able to reach a settlement that would cover the expenses of Sharon’s medical care for the rest of her life. This allowed James to focus solely on how to improve the circumstance. His way to do this was by finding the best medical treatments and most promising procedures/therapies that he could find.

He also wanted to find a way to make sure that what happened to his family wouldn’t happen to any other families. That is why The Uplifting Foundation exists. It is a nonprofit organization that helps other people who are in similar situations to the Williams Family. Dealing with autism or traumatic brain injuries is a terrible burden that people and families should not have to carry alone.

We Are Here to Help

The Uplifting Foundation exists to help people struggling with these situations. The Uplifting Foundation points people towards medical treatments and therapies that can help with their situation. The Foundation also provides financial resources for those therapies and treatments to qualified individuals who otherwise would not be able to afford them. The Uplifting Foundation is also committed to helping with education and scientific studies to create a new and improved treatment paradigm to enhance the circumstances of neurologically injured persons, specifically those suffering from autism or from traumatic brain injuries.
